Samsung Galaxy Gear Smartwatch Leaked

With a few days left before Samsung‘s release of the new Galaxy Gear smartwatch, more information has leaked, giving the public a better idea of what Samsung will be offering. As of Friday there were reports of specs and website EVleaks tweeted a screenshot of a Galaxy Gear application. According to fastcompany.com:

“The notorious tech leaks outlet Evleaks has tweeted screenshots that tell us a bit more about how the smartwatch’s complementary smartphone app will allegedly work. The image indicates the Galaxy Gear will be equipped with both NFC and Bluetooth capabilities. It also appears you’ll be configuring the watch through an Android app, similar to the way both the Sony SmartWatch and the Pebble watch work. And a “Find my watch” feature suggests the watch will come with built-in GPS.”

As reported by time.com:

“Basically, it’s the specs of a low- to mid-range smartphone, crammed into a watch. That’s impressive, but the one point of concern is the 10-hour battery, which would pale in comparison to the Pebble or Sony’s upcoming Smartwatch 2.”

Neither the specs, nor the screenshot gives insight into what the device will look like or what it will do. However, previous reports suggest a square screen, as the curved glass that Samsung and Apple have been rumored to be working on is still not ready for consumer consumption.

Samsung enthusiasts will just have to wait until the event on Sept. 4.
