Roleplay: Rashida Jones Swaps Acting Roles to Produce New Shows on Fox and The CW

Rashida Jones, the actress most known for her role as Ann Perkins on NBC’s hit show “Parks and Recreation,” announced she will leave the series after this season. It appears the reasoning behind her exit was to move on to bigger and better things in television, not as an actress, but as a producer. Jones will be producing an hour-long drama series called “The Revengers,” for the CW alongside her older sister, Kidada Jones.

The show is about the lives of two estranged friends in their 20s, who reunite in New York City after learning they’ve both been dating the same guy. The duo concocts a plan to get back at their cheating boyfriend. They’re revengeful plan works so well that their project goes viral, giving them fame and an opportunity to set up a ‘revenge business’ to help others seeking similar payback from unfaithful partners.

According to the Inquisitr, Rashida Jones will team up with her writing/producing partner Will McCormack for the CW project. Her sister Kidada, who shares music mogul Quincy Jones as father, will earn her first producing credit for the show.
In addition to “The Revengers,”  Jones is also developing a pilot for a Fox comedy titled “Stuck,”  a brainchild of “Parks and Recreation writer Alexandra Rushfield.
While Rashida Jones has already stepped behind the camera, her “Parks and Recreation character, Ann Perkins can be seen for the next 13 episodes of the upcoming season before she and co-star Rob Lowe exit for good.
