The Wolverine Trailer Is Finally Uncaged

After releasing a number of teasers and posters earlier this week, The Wolverine trailer has finally been unleashed, just as Twentieth Century Fox promised they would.

In the full length clip the plot points become even clearer.  A scraggly, overgrown beard Logan (Hugh Jackman) travels to Japan to meet an old friend whose life he saved.  It appears the clawed mutant hero is severely depressed with having to live forever because of his ability to rapidly regenerate practically making him indestructible.

Logan’s mysterious and sinister sounding friend offers him a chance to get rid of his healing powers and may have actually duped him into doing so because he’s shocked when his ability fails him after being injured.

We know that Logan has always been emotionally vulnerable; especially to his unrequited love, Dr. Jean Grey, who seems to be making a cameo appearance in The Wolverine film. However, we’ve never seen him physically vulnerable.  The clip implies that he will be even more ferocious in this state so it will be interesting to see how it all turns out.

James Mangold directed The Wolverine based on a screenplay from Mark Bomback, who was inspired by the 1982 comic book series by Frank Miller and Chris Claremont’s, titled “Wolverine.”

Aside from Jackman, the Marvel film stars Will Yun Lee, Svetlana Khodchenkova, Brian Tee and Hiroyuki Sanada. Famke Janssen appears to be reprising her Jean Grey role

The Wolverine slashes into U.S. theaters on July 26, 2013.
