Quentin Tarantino, Steven Spielberg & Zack Snyder Not Interested In Directing Star Wars

Three high profile Hollywood directors recently turned down the thought of possibly directing the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII.

Steven Spielberg told Access Hollywood, when asked if want to sit the director’s chair, “No! No! It’s not my genre. It’s my best friend George’s genre.”

Not sure if he would make the proper fit as a director for Star Wars but in a separate occasion, Quentin Tarantino told EW an almost identical answer saying, “I could so care less. Especially if Disney’s going to do it. I’m not interested in the Simon West version of Star Wars.”

Zack Snyder (Man of Steel, Watchmen, 300) also has taken his name off the list of possible directors. LA Times caught up with Snyder and asked if he would take on the franchise, he said:

“I don’t think I’d be interested in [directing it]. I’m a huge ‘Star Wars’ fanatic. I just think doing [episodes] seven, eight and nine is just a slippery slope. It’s a whole other mythological experiment I’m excited to see, but it’s a lot of effort.”

It seems as though all three directors are fans of Star Wars and don’t want to be part of a possibly subpar version. Star Wars: Episode VII is shooting for a 2015 release.
