“In a hole in the ground lived a hobbit.” So began J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit, which was the beginning of a series of stories that would forever influence the world of fantasy fiction. This new TV spot for An Unexpected Journey, the first in a trilogy of movies* based on The Hobbit, begins with the same phrase, clearly tapping into the nostalgia of those of us who have read the book. It also features a hilariously rushed narration near the end, as the movie trailer man must say the title, release date, rating (or lack of rating), and advanced ticketing information in the span of like five seconds.
