Lionsgate has announced today that Jeffrey Wright will be the actor to portray District 3’s tribute, Beetee in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire! Tony Shalhoub was originally rumored to have gotten the part.
Wright will star in the film opposite Amanda Plummer, who portrays his counterpart Wiress. The duo is nicknamed Nuts and Volts because of their quirky behaviors. Beetee returns in the third book, so Jeffrey Wright will likely continue his role into at least one of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay installments.
Besides Plummer, Wright will also join Hunger Games newcomers Sam Claflin as Finnick Odair, Phillip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch Heavensbee, Jena Malone as Johanna Mason, Amanda Plummer as Wiress, Lynn Cohen as Mags, Meta Golding as Enobaria,Bruno Gunn as Brutus,Maria Howell as Seeder, and Stephanie Leigh Schlund as Cashmere.
Filming for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is expected to begin in Atlanta, Georgia and Hawaii this month. Francis Lawrence will direct the film which has expected to compete in theaters on November 22, 2013.
