Aaron Tveit Gets The Role As Enjolras In 'Les Miserables'

Gossip Girl actor Aaron Tveit lands the role of Enjolras in Tom Hooper’s adaptation of the musical Les Miserables. According to Hollywood Reporter, the 28-year-old actor will play the charismatic French student who leads the student revolt and sings “Do You Hear the People Sing?”

Teveit will join a star powered cast that includes Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean, Russell Crowe as Inspector Javert, Anne Hathaway as Fantine, Amanda Seyfried as Cosette, and Eddie Redmayne as Marius. Sacha Baron Cohen, Taylor Swift and Helena Bonham Carter are currently unconfirmed for roles in the project.

Although Tavit is best known for his role as Trip van der Bilt in the TV series Gossip Girl, he does have some stage experience as well. He recently played Frank Abagnale Jr. in the Broadway production of Catch Me If You Can, for which he was nominated for the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Actor in a Musical, the Drama League Award for Distinguished Performance.

Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of an ex-prisoner who is hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s (Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.
