‘What Fame Does to Kids’: Jaleel White Tapped to Ask ‘Tough Questions’ to ’90s Child Stars In TV Show

Jaleel White is preparing to bring your favorite child stars from the ’90s back to your television screen to reminisce about their time growing up in the limelight — in a television adaptation of his “Ever After” podcast.

The “Ever After with Jaleel White” podcast, which launched in October 2020 through Audio Up entertainment company, has been greenlit for a 30-minute pilot episode, which is set to premiere on Aug. 26 on Topic, a First Look Media streaming service.

White, who gained superstar status as a child when he stole the show in the ’90s sitcom “Family Matters” as the nerdy-but-loveable Steve Urkel, was inspired to start the podcast to give fans a behind-the-scenes look at their favorite successful child stars of the era.

“The ’90s were a decade where pop culture took flight and were defined by some truly iconic moments that make us more nostalgic than ever. It was also the decade of sitcoms where many child actors got their start,” said White in a statement.

According to Deadline, fans can expect “Ever After” to be a mixture of White discussing his days growing up in the entertainment industry and what life was like post-Urkel, as well as catching up with fellow former child star guests “to discuss how their paths diverged from their early days of fame.” Brian Austin Green will join White as his guest during the pilot.

“Philip Alberstat, my producing partner, and I thought it would be exciting to create a show where we would reach out to some of TV’s most famous child actors and see where they are now, how they dealt with fame, growing up famous and what the future holds for them,” the Purple Urkel boss continued. “The podcast series enabled us to have deep, meaningful conversations with many actors and now we are even more excited to have a TV pilot ready for viewing.”

“Jaleel and I felt strongly that audiences were yearning for 90’s nostalgia,” said Audio Up’s Chief Operating Officer Philip Alberstat. “His status as a child star and television icon gave him the credibility to ask our guests tough questions and explore what fame does to kids who were famous during the ’90s. We are very excited to have a successful podcast series now move to the television space.”

White’s previous podcast guests have included former child stars such as Tyler James Williams, Keke Palmer and Raven-Symoné.
