When comedian Vena Excell, known as Pretty Vee, created a freestyle on Nick Cannon‘s ‘Wild ‘n Out,’ she had no idea that her rap would turn into a social media challenge. The premise of the ‘Pretty Vee’ challenge is to lip sync Vena’s fast rap lyrics and twerk at the end of the video.
La La Anthony and her son Kiyan Anthony are the latest celebrities to tackle the dance phenomenon. At 39, the “Power” actress and her son killed the viral internet dance in a Thursday, July 9 Instagram post.
Wearing a forest green sweatsuit with a bright green beanie, La La used disinfectant spray as a microphone and started rapping. Kiyan also wore comfortable attire, sporting a red T-shirt with matching basketball shorts and a green beanie with a lint roller and a black bandana tucked underneath.
La La wrote in her caption: “Somebody come get my phone! 🤣🤦🏽♀️Name a better duo than me & Kiyan 🤣 @yesimprettyvee u took us out with this one!! 🤣😘u killed this!!! 🤣🤣WE NEED THIS ENERGY🤣🤣.”
The mother-son duo received over 1 million views for their performance and nearly 5,000 comments from fans explaining that their TikTok was the best one yet. One person wrote: “No better duo🤣.” Somebody else commented on Kiyan’s props, saying “It’s the lint roller for me!!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.” But other fans argued that their dance moves stole the spotlight. “Ayoooooooo it’s the twerk twerk for me lmaoooo I love this.”
La La and her husband NBA player Carmelo Anthony are parents to 13-year-old Kiyan. The couple met in 2003 and were introduced to each other through a mutual friend. The pair tied the knot in 2010, and announced that they were splitting up in 2017 after rumors swirled that Carmelo allegedly fathered a baby girl, Genesis Harlo, with a woman named Mia Burks. The Portland Trail Blazers forward has not yet confirmed that he has a child outside of his marriage. La La and Carmelo have been living apart since 2018 and are just focusing on co-parenting their teenage son, according to People.
