‘I Just Wanted to Show the World Yo Smile’: Tee Grizzley Speaks Out Since the Death of His Aunt and Manager

Tee Grizzley has addressed the slaying of his aunt Jobina Brown, who was shot and killed on August 20 in the rapper’s hometown of Detroit.

Brown, who was 41 and managed Grizzley, was sitting in the back seat of his vehicle at the time, and it’s still unclear whether he was the intended target or not. Grizzley was left unscathed during the shooting, as was the driver.

“Since I was 12 We been going everywhere together how you gone go to heaven without me????” wrote the rapper on Saturday next to a video of Brown. She also didn’t know the camera was on her at first. “Idek what to say JB I just wanted to show the world yo smile I love you so much đź’””

The 25-year-old also responded to the outpouring of support he’s received since the tragedy, and on Friday he tweeted “I appreciate all the love I wasn’t ignoring y’all I just been speechless.”

“Prayers up to you and the family in this time of loss Tee,” one of his Instagram followers wrote afterwards.

“Damn dawg. I’m sorry you gotta go through this pain. Bounce back,” another person encouraged the rapper.

“Her smile was everything. We won’t be the same without her. I’m praying for your healing heart Tee,” a third person commented.

When news first surfaced of Brown, many of Grizzley’s fellow rappers, including T.I. and Lil Yachty sent their condolences, which is what the New Jersey artist Fetty Wap did in Grizzley’s recent post.

“She watching over you now bro keep showin out for her,” wrote Wap in the comment section.

Jay Rock, Fabolous, Asian Da Brat, Young Ma and Philly singer PnB Rock also sent encouraging words.

“YOU GOT A HELLUVA ANGEL NOW BRO,” wrote PnB Rock.
