Months after Tyra Banks re-entered the modeling world, she’s setting her sights on a new business undertaking and she’s in a reflective mood.
The supermodel has previously opened up about her quest to open Modelland, a theme park set to open in California’s Santa Monica Place mall.
“It’s my calling to bring modeling to the masses,” Banks told Women’s Wear Daily in February of the project that is 10 years in the making. “It’s a permanent attraction anchoring the mall. I’m inspired by Disneyland, a place I went to a lot as a child. There is a storyline I have been working on for a year. Anybody can enter and feel like a model.”
The 21,000-square-foot ticketed attraction will feature interactive entertainment, curated shopping and user-generated sharable content. Shoppers are also welcome without having a ticket.
Recently, Banks returned to Harvard Business School to brush up on her knowledge after attending the program in 2012 and obtaining a certificate in the school’s Owner/President Management extension program. The three-part, nine-week program, which is spread out over 24 months, is geared toward business owners who want to take their businesses to the next level.
This time Banks apparently was in the school’s OPM Renew course, a four-day offering for alumni of the Owner/President Management program.
“I am sitting in my @harvardhbs dorm pondering the massive undertaking of @ModelLand that launches later this year,” Banks wrote in the caption of a black and white photo she shared on Instagram Thursday, August 8. “I came to the business school many years ago with the #ModelLand dream in mind and now launch is so close. I have returned to school to refresh the knowledge I gained and to make sure I am more than equipped to bring you an attraction like you’ve never experienced before. A place that allows you to be the fantasy version of yourself.
“The genius professors here at #HBS are sharing their world class knowledge so that I can then take that and give YOU what you deserve. Thank you to all of the faculty for your tireless teachings and for believing in your students so much. I hope to make you proud,” she concluded.
Banks opening up about her quest for personal and professional improvement struck a chord with her followers.
