In 2017 there was a big question mark hanging over La La Anthony and Carmelo Anthony‘s marriage after they separated.
Around that time, there was also a lot of talk about Melo fathering a child with a woman named Mia Angel Burks, which still hasn’t been proven.
Reports of the Anthonys getting back together started to surface in 2018 after they were seen kissing at a New York City event, and these days they seem stronger than ever.
Proof of that is a message the actress posted about her husband for his 35th birthday, which is May 29. She also acknowledged his current NBA woes.
Because Melo hasn’t played in the league since 2018, when he was he played just 10 games for the Houston Rockets this season before they decided he didn’t fit into their offense and benched him before trading him to the Chicago Bulls, who never planned to play him. The Bulls would go on to waive Anthony shortly before the February trade deadline, making him a free agent. Before that, he was traded the previous season by the Oklahoma City Thunder for more or less the same reason.
But in her Instagram post, the “Power” star said her husband has been scapegoated and she cheered him on. She also seemed to bring up the Rockets losing to the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Semifinals earlier this month.
“No matter how much you’ve been “blamed” “overlooked” underestimated” “scapegoated” “blame it on Melo” (you see how that turned out right?) regardless of all of the things “they” say. You’ve stayed solid. You’ve never lashed out,” wrote the actress on Wednesday.
“You’ve never even spoken a single bad word. You stay humble. You stay in the gym 24/7,” she continued. “A lot of people could learn from you bcuz by now most would have been broken down. Happy Birthday to a real one. Don’t count him out just yet..theres more to come. Happy Birthday @carmeloanthony…love you always. #stayme7o.”
Many seemed touched by La La Anthony’s post, while others brought up the cheating allegation and criticized her for praising Melo.
“He need to go get that baby,” one person wrote.
“I’m sorry I can’t stay with a man who had a baby with someone else and we married,” wrote another.
“He’s in gym 16/6 the other time he’s in the strip club making babies,” a third person weighed in.
But others said the baby rumor is just that, a rumor, and they gave La La Anthony credit for sticking by her man.
“This is grown woman statues,” someone wrote. “A grown woman that has forgiven and moved on with her life. I applaud you @lala, some women just can’t handle it.”
