Kind Acts: NBA YoungBoy and His Label Offer To Pay for Funeral of Man Who Was Killed During Shootout Directed at Rapper

NBA YoungBoy and his crew were involved in a shootout on Mother’s Day in Miami while they were in town for the Rolling Loud Festival. It happened when someone opened fire on them as they were leaving the Trump International Beach Resort.

The Baton Rouge, Louisiana, rapper wasn’t hit or injured, but a 43-year old man named Mohamad Jrad was killed in the crossfire.

According to reports, YoungBoy and his label Atlantic Records have offered to pay for the funeral expenses, because they’re “heartbroken” about the killing. In fact, the 19-year-old said “I wish they would have gotten me, not him,” based on a statement from his lawyer James Manasseh.

Jrad, who was an employee of the car rental company Hertz, was sitting in his van across the street from Trump International when the shooting occurred, and he was struck in the head.

Three other bystanders were also injured during the crossfire, including a 5-year-old boy and YoungBoy’s 19-year-old girlfriend Kaylyn Marie Long. There’s video that shows the rapper tending to Long after she was shot and before she was taken to a hospital.

At this time, neither YoungBoy or his entourage have been arrested for the shooting, because police determined that his crew acted in self-defense.

But the “Gangsta Fever” performer, who actually didn’t fire a shot, was locked up for probation violation in Louisiana, because on social media
he threatened to seek revenge for the shooting.

One of the conditions of his probation is that he’s supposed to stay off social media entirely.

After the shooting, Manasseh said YoungBoy was the victim of “an assassination attempt.” The rapper can be seen trying to help his wounded girlfriend in the clip below.
