An arrest warrant was issued this past summer for a man named James Mason, R. Kelly‘s former manager, after Mason was accused of threatening to kill Joycelyn Savage‘s father Timothy Savage, CNN is reporting.
Timothy and his wife Joycelyn have long maintained that their daughter is being held against her will by Kelly, and the singer forced the young woman to cut off family contact. In fact, the Savages said they haven’t spoken to 23-year-old Joycelyn in two years.
And according to CNN, Mason threatened Timothy in May 2018 after the concerned dad talked about his daughter in interviews.
“I’m gonna do harm to you and your family,” said Mason, based on an incident report. “When I see you I’m gonna get you. I’m going to f—ing kill you.”
Timothy contacted the Henry County, Ga., police afterward, and the incident was brought to a judge, who issued the warrant last July under the charges of “terroristic threats and acts,” according to CNN.
Meanwhile, Timothy was asked recently about the docuseries “Surviving R. Kelly” and talked about a report that states investigators are looking to bring charges against the singer.
“Whether he gets jail time that’s not up to me,” he stated. “I just want my daughter back to make sure she is fine and healthy.”
Timothy also responded to critics who said he and his wife took Joycelyn to Kelly for help with a singing career, even though there were already allegations against him.
“We never took our daughter to be sold to R. Kelly,” Timothy stated.
Joycelyn also gave an interview back in 2017, shortly after her parents spoke to reporters, and denied she was being held.
“I just want everybody to know — my parents and everybody in the world — that I’m totally fine. I’m happy where I’m at and everything is okay with me.”
The status of the case against Mason remains unknown at this time.
