Miss America Drops Swimsuit Competition: The Miss America contest will discontinue the swimsuit competition portion of the contest. Miss America organization Chairman Gretchen Carlson said on Good Morning America, “We will no longer judge our candidates on their outward physical appearance. It’s going to be what comes out of (the candidates) mouths that we’re interested in when they talk about their social-impact initiatives.” The changes will be effective September 9th.
