The drama between New Edition is never ending and it doesn’t stop because it’s the band’s lead singer Ralph Tresvant‘s birthday, either.
After four members — Ronnie Devoe, Bobby Brown, Ricky Bell and Michael Bivins — announced earlier this month they were going on tour as RBRM this summer without Ralph Tresvant and Johnny Gill, Bell explained he would do his part to make sure all six singers reunite.
“Like all families, we have differences that plague us and those differences must be dealt with and smoothed out for us to function as the single unit that will allow us to tour as N.E. again,” he wrote Thursday, May 10. “But make no mistake about it, when that time comes please know that Ricky Bell will be there front and center ready to rock.”
Tresvant and Gill, who own the trademark for the New Edition name, have been silent on their absence from the upcoming tour. But on his 50th birthday, Wednesday, May 16, Tresvant threw some shade toward the group over the “hurt” he’s experienced.
“It seems like I’ve been able to depend on you guys more than (some) actual ‘supposedly’ family members,” Ralph said before thanking his fans for inspiring him and encouraging him to “keep it going throughout all of the ups and downs in this crazy business called entertainment!!!!”
“This year is the start of Me, Myself, and Mines… NOTHING ELSE MATTERS!!!,” he added.
Other members of NE responded to the “Sensitivity” singer by speaking on the strife and also wishing him well on his special day.
“Man you’ve sacrificed so much of yourself in so many ways,” Gill said in his birthday message. “A car has many pieces — from the fine interior to the fanciest wheels — but without an engine, it can’t go very far. You are the engine that’s carried the car for many years and I truly salute you, man.”
Bell wrote, “No matter what challenges we are faced with, I hope and pray that our lifelong brotherhood will stand the test of time and allow us to overcome any and all obstacles placed in our way.”
And the group’s choreographer, Brooke Payne posted, “No matter what we have faced over the years, one thing that remains constant is that we faced it together and brother, even in the shadows I’m right here with you.”
Meanwhile, DeVoe and Bivins kept their birthday tributes lighthearted and avoided hinting up any drama.

However, despite reportedly liking his fellow NE members’ birthday wishes, Bobby Brown didn’t post a word about Tresvant. Yet he did wish other “The New Edition Story” actors who played him — Woody McClain and Tyler Marcel Williams — a happy birthday.
