Despite Tiffany Haddish’s philosophy behind having knockoff handbags, her “Girls Trip” co-star Jada Pinkett Smith wants to ensure the comedian has the real deal.
“Just so y’all know, every time I see Tiffany, I give her a bag of some kind,” Smith dished to “Entertainment Tonight” Monday, April 23 of the actresses’ tradition.
Adds Haddish, “When we first met, I had knockoff bags and she’s like, ‘You can’t be having these knockoff bags.’ She was saying I can’t wear stuff from the swap meet no more!”
In a profile with W magazine, Haddish said she told Smith why she won’t buy designer duds after the veteran actress initially told Haddish to give up off-brands.
“My philosophy is, Whatever the bag costs, I should be able to keep that amount of cash in the bag. If it’s a $300 purse, I have to put $300 in cash in that purse. I do not want a bag that is more expensive than the cash I have to put in it.”
At the time, several online commenters gave Haddish their support.
“My sentiments egggzackly!!!!!!!,” someone tweeted.
“I love this logic,” another said. “You boujie broke b—-es can take notes.”
“I’m all about those knockoffs and [being] able to put even more money in that purse,” someone else posted. “But, I’m also broke and find it easier to buy expensive wine than purses haha.”
