Charles Barkley sat down with CNN and talked about Donald Trump’s presidency. Barkley claims that Trump is a reaction to Barack Obama’s presidency and he “encourages racism.”
The Basketball Hall of Famer, said on “The Axe Files with David Axelrod” that Trump is an overreaction from racists to Obama’s presidency. He said” The situation of President Trump is a total overreaction and I feel bad because you see anti-Semitism, racism. People feel emboldened to do things and say things now. He definitely encourages it. …I think he panders to his base.”
With Trump’s efforts in building a wall on the southern border to prevent illegal immigration, Barkley expressed the president did, “an awful job of being inclusive” and “His actions, the ways he’s treated minorities, has emboldened these other racists to be more bold, plain and simple.”
Barkley also spoke about his frustration with the day-to-day shenanigans of the President including the tweets, the Russian probe and porn star Stormy Daniels. He said, “I’ve never been more angry and disgusted at this situation than I am now. There’s turmoil every single day.. the tweeting, the hiring and firing. Like, dude, I’m blessed, and you are, too.”
The former 76ers basketball player believed that those “everyday turmoils” are a distraction to bigger issues that aren’t being resolved in the country. He said, “We have spent the last year talking about Russia every single day. Now we got Stormy (Daniels), now we got another girl, and I’m sitting here saying, ‘When are we actually going to help the people?”
