The Michelle Obama’s portrait in the Smithsonian Museum has been a buzz ever since the unveiling. Due to the high volume of viewers, the painting was relocated to an area of the museum where there was enough room for viewers to see.
The National Portrait Gallery tweeted, “We’re always changing things up here. Due to the high volume of visitors, we’ve relocated Michelle Obama’s portrait to the 3rd floor in our 20th-Century Americans galleries for a more spacious viewing experience.”
Painter Amy Sherald unveiled the painting of the former First Lady last month and people raved about the details. The need to see the picture escalated when an image of a little girl starring at the painting of the former First Lady went viral.
In February 2018, 176,700 people visited the gallery. Just last weekend 45,000 visitors came to view the portrait.
