On Tuesday, Feb. 20, “The Real” cast discussed why men who are the breadwinners feel they can do whatever they want in a relationship. The conversation stemmed from Chris Rock’s revelation in his latest Netflix comedy special “Tamborine.” Rock stated, “I didn’t listen. I wasn’t kind. I had an attitude. I thought, ‘I pay for everything, I can do what I want’. That s–t don’t f–king work. I just thought I was the s–t. I didn’t play the tambourine.”
Adrienne Houghton took over the discussion and gave advice to women who are dealing with this situation. “As women we have the power to change that.” She said, ” I don’t have to stick around with a man who is disrespecting me, who’s cheating on me because he has all the money.”
Houghton encouraged women to choose self-esteem over material possessions and status. “Let go of that, your self-worth and your self-respect are so much more than anything money can buy.”
