“Empire” actress Taraji P. Henson is not letting heat touch her curls again! The star is known for rocking a variety of knockout hairstyles and earlier this year, she let her natural hair shine. Now, Henson wants to keep them for good and is revealing the last time she let anyone straighten her tresses.
“You know why I [went natural]? I wanted to get my curl pattern back,” Henson told “Extra” Tuesday, Sept. 26. “I don’t know if you saw the Marie Claire cover. That is the only time I allowed [my hairstylist Tym Wallace] to straighten my hair. I’m not straightening my hair again.”

Henson has donned practically every hairstyle over the course of her decades-long career. From beach waves to her signature bob and everything in between, there’s no look the star can’t master. But Henson, who told People magazine she transitioned to natural while filming 2001’s “Baby Boy,” felt something new when she did the big chop in July.
“She fell in love,” Wallace told Refinery29. “She felt so free and liberated.”
“It’s great to see a woman of her stature embrace her hair, and [cut] it so short,” he added. “She’s showing that she’s all for the Black girl magic — showing these young Black girls that you are not defined by what society paints as beautiful when it comes to a Black woman and her hair. That was the main force for me.”
