After defeating Illinois 41-8 on Saturday, Oct. 22, coach Jim Harbaugh tells reporters that his new glasses are a “tip of the hat” to three great men, including Malcolm X.
“It’s a tip of the hat, a nod to Woody Hayes, to Michael Douglas in the movie Falling Down, and also a tip of the cap to Malcolm X,” Harbaugh says. “In honor of those three men.”
Back in August, the Wolverines head coach dismissed San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick’s national anthem protest. “I acknowledge his right to do that. I don’t respect the motivation or the action,” he said. However, after public scrutiny, Harbaugh took to Twitter to clarify his statements and ease the criticism.
