Tyra Banks continues to expand her beauty empire with a skincare line. The former fashion model parlayed her experience from her makeup brand Tyra Beauty to launch Tyra Beauty Skincare.
In a video posted to her website, Banks shared the inspiration behind the new venture.
“When I’m on social media and reading comments the one that makes me smile the biggest is when people are like, ‘Dang, girl! You look so young! I can’t believe you’re in your 40s!’ ” the former talk show host said. “But there’s a reason for it: I get it from my mama.”
Banks said she was not talking about DNA. Rather, she meant the skincare habits her mother instilled in her since she was 6 years old. That included washing her face with a washcloth rather than using her hands.
With Banks’ new line of merchandise, the business mogul is growing what she called her “cosmetics experience.”
The website features several products. They include The Clean Machine, a wash with a scrubber as the pump to prevent users from “rubbing the dirt around” on their face. The cleanser’s description states it is a three-in-one product that cleans, “removes makeup and purifies your skin.”
Another item, The Secret Weapon exfoliator, promises users “professional microdermabrasion results at home.”
Plus the Instant Gratification face mask claims to provide a contoured look on the face and neck in 8 minutes.
Individual product prices range from $29 to $88, while a complete skincare package is offered for $117.
The launch of Tyra Beauty Skincare comes on the heels of Banks’ debut makeup line, Tyra Beauty. Banks founded the company in 2014 after she completed a business management program through Harvard University.
“In order for my company to grow and be the best, and to reach these women, and to serve them, I needed the best,” Banks told CBS News of her schooling decision in 2011. “So I went to the best.”
