Ex-NFL Star Charles Woodson Boldly Correlates 9/11 Attacks to Treatment of Blacks in America

On the Sept. 11 edition of ESPN’s “Sunday NFL Countdown,” commentator Charles Woodson voices his support for Colin Kaepernick.

The former NFL safety starts the clip comparing the 9/11 attacks to police brutality in the United States.

“How could someone wrap their minds around killing innocent people for … how you think or how you live your life, ” Woodson begins. “Then, I correlate that with Colin Kaepernick … How is it that Black people can be treated a certain way for how they look — the color of their skin. I understand Kaepernick’s point.”

Furthermore, Woodson adds that Francis Scott Key was a slave owner and did not write the national anthem for Black people.

“The author of the national anthem had slaves … Now, I’m thinking about the national anthem. I hear the line ‘the home of free,’ he wasn’t talking about me.”
