Higher education is beneficial, but it is not a panacea, especially when it comes to closing the wealth gap between whites and people of color. A new study from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis found that while college-educated families typically earn higher incomes and generate more wealth across racial ethnic groups, and higher education may help protect wealth from hard economic times, education does not protect the wealth of all racial and ethnic groups.
