Actor, writer and director Nate Parker made headlines with his record-crushing Sundance film, The Birth of a Nation. Now, the film’s first official teaser has hit the web.
In January, Fox Searchlight — the same company that bought 12 Years A Slave — purchased The Birth of a Nation for $17.5 million. That deal has gone down as the biggest in the prestigious film festival’s history.
In the trailer, Parker is Nat Turner, leader of an 1831 slave rebellion in Virginia. The film will be released in theaters on October 7.
