Following the intervention of the new Ambassador of Haiti to the Dominican Republic, Magali Jeanty Magloire, with the relevant Dominican authorities, including Major General Paulino Sem Director General of Immigration, a first group of Haitian students was received yesterday Monday in the Dominican Immigration Office.
These 27 young people studying all in Santiago will benefit within a short time, of an easing of Dominican migration measures, which affects so far the Haitian student community.
Abner François, a student of the Technological University of Santiago (UTESA) welcomed the efforts of the Embassy of Haitiin favor of Haitian students adding “My thanks also extend to the Dominican authorities for the kindness shown to us.”
This first intervention of the Embassy of Haiti, should allow soon to a larger number of students, to regularize their migratory status in Dominican territory.
