A commemorative stamp honoring the life and works of Louis Armstrong was issued by the US postal service in 1995. He was also the face of stamps of countries in Africa such as Chad, Senegal, Mali, Niger and Guinea-Bissau.
Armstrong was inducted into the Down Jazz Hall of Fame in 1952. He was also the first honoree. Some of his other lifetime achievements include the Grammy Lifetime Achievement award in 1972, induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 and the ASCAP Jazz Wall of Fame. A variety of magazines also list Armstrong as the top 100 artists of the 20th century.
