Melissa Harris-Perry And Husband Welcome Baby Girl on Valentine’s Day

Melissa Harris Perry adopts on Valentines Day MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry and her husband James Perry took to Twitter to announce the addition of a new baby girl to her family on Valentine’s Day.

Harris-Perry may have received the Valentine’s Day surprise that tops them all.

The political commentator’s  daughter was born on Valentine’s Day and she couldn’t wait to share photos of her bundle of joy with the world.

Melissa and James had a gestational carrier and created their own biological embryos.

Melissa was unsure if she could ever have a shared biological child with her husband due to her hysterectomy, so the new baby girl was a true blessing for the Perrys.

Her husband tweeted a picture of them cradling the baby girl along with the caption, “Here’s the wonderful Valentine’s day gift that @MHarrisPerry & I received yesterday! A beautiful baby girl.”

The Perrys have been married since 2010 and already co-parent Melissa’s daughter from a previous marriage.

The MSNBC talk show host also made headlines back in December after a joke about Mitt Romney’s grandson offended some viewers.

The backlash sparked when Harris-Perry and her guest panelists made jokes about Mitt Romney’s family photo.

Romney’s grandson is an adopted, Black baby and he stuck out in the family photo.

Shortly after the segment aired Harris-Perry issued an apology for the jokes that were said on air and explained that she didn’t mean to offend transracial families.

“I apologize to all families built on loving transracial adoptions who feel I degraded their lives or choices,” she tweeted. “As Black child born into a large white Mormon family I feel familiarity w/ Romney family pic & never meant to suggest otherwise. Therefore, while I meant no offense, I want to immediately apologize to the Romney family for hurting them.”
