There are many people who now opt to bypass the hustle and bustle of going to the mall and do most of their shopping online. However, there’s a slight dilemma in the fact that people never know how the clothes will fit until it gets to them.
Bra retailer ThirdLove is looking to make this a thing of the past when it comes to women’s bras. The app allows women to take pictures of themselves in the mirror and by analyzing those pictures, ThirdLove will create the correct fitting bra. According to readwrite.com:
“Users stand in front of a mirror dressed in a tank top or bra, with their iPhone camera in tow. The app instructs users to bring the phone down to their navel. Computer vision leveraging sensors in the app will audibly and visually alert if the phone is not completely parallel with the mirror.
Once the phone is perfectly aligned to the mirror, the picture is taken. A few measurements are then completed by the user—dragging a box over the size of the iPhone in the image, sizing a line to the bust’s widest length, and sizing a line underneath the bust.
This process is repeated for the second photo, but with the user’s left profile facing the mirror. The phone is once again brought down to the navel, and lengths are measured accordingly.”
Once the pictures are snapped on analyze, ThirdLove will find a bra that fits better than the traditional bra fittings, as it allows for half sizes to produce a bra that’s guaranteed to fit.
If ThirdLove is able to crack the code on online shopping for bras, it shouldn’t be hard to extrapolate this technology to other articles of clothing as well. This will most certainly be a game changer for the future and should be welcomed by all online shoppers.
