“Nikita” season 4, episode 1: “Wanted” premieres tonight on The CW, where the final fight begins.
This week on the season premiere, Nikita is still on the run after she was framed for the assassination of the president of the United States. Dale, a reporter from the news channel ENN, starts questioning what really happened that night. Nikita sees this as an opportunity to clear her name so she re-enters the country to talk to Dale but walks right into a trap set by Amanda. The team is alerted and Michael sets out to find Nikita before Amanda does. While Birkoff and Ryan help Michael from their new mobile office, a high-tech aircraft, Alex stakes out a human-trafficking ring and learns The Shop is involved. Things go south and Alex is surprised when Owen-Sam shows up at the scene.
A summary of “Nikita” season 4 reads:
‘When Nikita (Maggie Q, “Live Free or Die Hard,” “Mission Impossible 3”) was a troubled teenager on death row, she was “recruited” by a secret U.S. black ops program known only as Division. They faked her execution and turned her into an assassin. Nikita never lost her humanity, and when she learned that Division was a corrupt organization, she went rogue, exposing their covert operations, destroying their plans, righting their wrongs.
Two years later, she finds herself working for a new Division, fighting alongside a team of allies she’s gathered throughout her adventures. They have vowed to clean up the mess left behind by the old Division – rogue spies, violent assassins – Nikita is hunting down killers just as skilled as she is.
In her campaign to end Division’s legacy, Nikita teamed with Michael (Shane West, “ER,” “Once and Again,” “A Walk to Remember”). He’s the man who trained her – and the man who loves her. A stalwart soldier in the fight, Michael is determined to build a life for himself and Nikita, a life beyond the turmoil of their day jobs.
Nikita also teamed with Alex (Lyndsy Fonseca, “Kick-Ass,” “Desperate Housewives”), a girl with a violent past and a shared taste for vengeance. Torn from a life of wealth and comfort as a Russian heiress, Alex has turned away from her old life to help Nikita.
Same goes for Birkhoff (Aaron Stanford, “Traveler,” “X-Men: The Last Stand”) Division’s former tech specialist, also known as the elusive hacker, “Shadowwalker.” Birkhoff had built himself a large (and illegal) financial portfolio when Nikita caught up with him. She enlisted him in the fight, unwillingly at first. He has always held a soft spot for her. Now he’s in charge of designing new gadgets and gear for Nikita’s team.
Also joining the fight – Owen (Devon Sawa, “Final Destination,” “Idle Hands”) a former “cleaner” for the black ops group, a highly skilled assassin who not only shares a connection with Nikita, he’s the key to unlocking Division’s deep dark past. And finally, Navy Seal Sean Pierce (Dillon Casey, “The Vampire Diaries,” “Torchwood”) joined the team last season, after being assigned to monitor Division by powerful forces in Washington. Along the way, he started falling for Alex. Now he’s wondering if keeping Division open is a good idea – for either of them.
The war against Division’s demons is led by Ryan Fletcher (Noah Bean, “Damages”), a former CIA analyst whose life has been saved by Nikita. Fletcher made a deal with the President to keep Division running, with the understanding that it would be cleaned up quickly and quietly or else.
That won’t be easy with Amanda (Melinda Clarke, “The O.C.,” “The Vampire Diaries”) in the world. Formerly Division’s second-in-command, she manipulated her way into its top spot, just in time for Nikita to take her down. Amanda’s out for vengeance herself, and her ties to Nikita run deep. She taught her how to walk, talk – and how to kill. Nikita was her star pupil at Division, and Amanda is not done teaching her a lesson.’
