Fox Pundits Respond to Oprah on Disrespect and President Obama

Bill O'Reily says America is not a racist country Political pundits at Fox News are up in arms after Oprah Winfrey said that President Barack Obama is disrespected because he is Black.

It’s no secret that President Barack Obama has become the target of tons of criticisms and backlash, but to suggest the negativity is caused by the color of his skin was just too much for Fox to handle.

Political commentator Bill O’Reilly said it wasn’t fair for the daytime talk show queen to be “indicting” America as a racist nation.

He also claimed that while he has much respect for Winfrey,  she has a “blind spot” when it comes to politics and the remarks she made to the BBC were “irresponsible.”

According to O’Reilly, there is not enough evidence to support the view that Obama is disrespected because of his skin color as other presidents – including President Bush and even President Kennedy- fell under extremely harsh criticisms when they were in office.

“This week we are marking the 50th anniversary of President Kennedy’s assassination,” O’Reilly said. “He was hated and vilified by some because he was a Roman Catholic. Again the irrational hatred directed towards Kennedy was far greater than what Barack Obama has experienced.”

Of course, discrimination of any kind should be inexcusable and the fact that it happened in the past doesn’t grant America the right to make that same mistake again.

Either way, O’Reilly insisted that Obama’s critics have only “focused on his policy.”

When O’Reilly was joined by Charles Ogletree, author and Harvard Law School professor, he agreed that the disrespect Obama has faced has been unrelated to policy. But O’Reilly insisted that no major news outlet had supported such comments about the president.

O’Reilly wasn’t the only Fox News pundit to freak out about Winfrey’s remarks either.

Commentators on “The Five,” a weekday roundtable discussion, also went on multiple tangents regarding Winfrey’s comments and threw their own prejudices into the mix, as they proclaimed there are far more “wackos” on the left than there are on the right.

Other Conservatives also voiced their frustrations with Oprah’s comments.

Mark Levin, the host of the syndicated radio talk show “The Mark Levin Show” was furious, saying she  had no idea what it was like to live in a country that is genuinely an extremely racist country.
