Jim Sensenbrenner, Wisconsin Congressman, Says Michelle Obama Has “Large Posterior” (2011)
Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI) decided to question Michelle Obama’s body shape while attacking her “Let’s Move” healthy eating campaign.
Sensenbrenner was overheard talking on the phone, retelling an incident maligning Michelle Obama: “She lectures us on eating right while she has a large posterior herself.”
The most bothersome issue here is that not only did the congressman make a crude sexist remark about the first lady, but he tried to use her physical appearance to denigrate her laudable efforts to get Americans to eat healthy meals and exercise.
Newt Gingrich’s “Kenyan Anti-Colonial Behavior” Comment (2010)
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich attempted to categorize the Obama as “foreign” in an interview with The National Review.
Gingrich, a Republican from Georgia, said:“What if [Obama] is so outside our comprehension, that only if you understand Kenyan, anti-colonial behavior, can you begin to piece together [his actions]… That is the most accurate, predictive model for his behavior.”
“This is a person who is fundamentally out of touch with how the world works, who happened to have played a wonderful con, as a result of which he is now president,” Gingrich added.
Conveniently, Gingrich refuses to acknowledge that Obama is a U.S.-born citizen and that he was not raised in Kenya by his father, with whom he spent only one month of his entire life.
This was yet another attempt to define the president as a “foreign” or “alien,” which goes back as far as former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s presidential campaign in 2008.
