Tessanne Chin might be known in the Caribbean community, but the singing sensation is now breaking out onto the mainstream stage. Chin is now a contestant on the hit TV show “The Voice” and she’s been the breakout hit. According to go-jamaica.com:
“With US $100,000 and a record deal with Universal Music Group on the line, members of Team Adam Levine and Team Blake Shelton each showcased their vocal ability with songs selected by the coaches.
“Having survived the blind auditions, the battle round and the knock-out rounds, Tessanne stated, ‘I definitely feel like I’m getting closer to the artist I want to be.'”
Now in the battle rounds segment of the show, Chin wowed the American audience and the judges again last night by dominating the competition. As also reported by go-jamaica.com:
“The ‘Jamaican Powerhouse’, as she is called, performed a cover of Jimmy Cliff’s ‘Many Rivers To Cross’ which once again earned her a standing ovation from coach Adam.
“An emotional and teary-eyed Tessanne once again blew away the judges with her vocals. ‘As amazing and incredible as that was, I was not surprised. I knew you were capable of those soaring vocals, I am a fan,’ said Christina Aguilera.”
Chin is definitely one of the favorites to win the competition at this point, which would be a major deal for her and her home country of Jamaica.
