Linebacker Aldon Smith was back on the San Francisco 49ers active roster Thursday.
Smith was on the non-football related injury list after he went into an alcohol treatment center Sept. 23 — a few days after his second arrest on suspicion of drunken driving since 2011. Earlier this week, the star player was released from the treatment center.
Upon leaving the facility, Smith met with 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh.
“I met with him face to face today,” Harbaugh said in a radio interview. “Aldon was in the building. … It was great to see the reaction of others who saw him and Aldon’s reaction of being back here with some of the guys. He looks great, and we’re having a good day. I mean, that was the object of today — let’s have a great day. I think that’s the way Aldon’s approaching things each day too … the goal to have a great day.”
Sources said Thursday, that the San Francisco 49ers organization believes Smith is ready to get back to his regular life as an NFL player.
Smith will play in the 49ers’ next game at home against the Carolina Panthers on Nov. 10.
