Kevin Durant scored 42 points as he lifted the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 101-98 win over the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night, with 22 of his baskets coming from the free throw line.
Thunders’ players Thabo Sefolosha and Reggie Jackson both scored 14 points each. Jackson also had two clutch free throws with 10.5 seconds to play in the game.
Gordon Hayward of the Jazz had a chance to tie the game, but missed a desperation 3-pointer right before the buzzer.
Utah closed the gap when Alec Burks scored 19 of his 24 points in the second half. Then the score was 99-98, with the lead to OKC after a dunk from Hayward on a play where both teams scrambled for the ball with 10 seconds left.
The Thunders solidified the game when Durant hit a pair free throws with 6.4 seconds remaining.
