‘The Voice’ Season 5 Episode 9: The Battles Premiere Part 3

The Voice Season 5, Episode 8: The Battles Premiere Part 2

The Voice” Season 5 Episode 9 airs tonight on NBC, where part three of The Battles Premiere takes place.

Here’s the synopsis of this week’s episode:

The ‘battle rounds’ continue as the coaches enlist the help of the music industry’s top recording artists to offer their knowledge and skills as advisers. Adam Levine teams up with Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, Blake Shelton with Cher, CeeLo Green with Miguel and Christina Aguilera with Ed Sheeran. In this phase, the coaches pit two of their own team members against each other in a dueling duet. After the vocal face-off, each coach must choose which artist from their team is the strongest, and has the option of stealing losing artists from an opposing coach. Each coach has two steals during the battle rounds where their artists will proceed to the new knockout rounds.

The description for season 5 of “The Voice” reads:

The show features four celebrity artists who will put together teams of singers who they’ll coach and mentor throughout the competition. Week by week, individuals will be eliminated until each celebrity has only one person on their team left to compete for the title of “The Voice of America,” in a live finale.

Unlike American Idols’ lengthy audition process, the celebrity mentors will select their team members via a blind audition, so they’ll only be able to hear their voices. The show will have three stages of competition – the blind audition, a battle phase, and the live performance shows. Viewers will take part in the show by casting votes to help determine the finalists, who are competing for the grand prize – a recording contract.
