Geno Smith threw for a touchdown pass and used his feet to get him in the end zone for another as the New York Jets beat Tom Brady and the New England Patriots 30-27 Sunday in overtime. The Patriots tied the game at 27 on Stephen Gostkowski’s 44-yard field goal with 16 seconds left in regulation.

New England has had New York’s number beating them in six straight regular-season meetings.

“Everyone has to look at themselves and do a better job,” Patriots quarterback Brady said, “because what we’re doing now isn’t good enough.”

Brady started well in overtime, hitting Rob Gronkowski with a 16-yard pass, but the Jets stopped them and forced them to punt.

Smith, who earlier in the year had a tough game against New England, throwing three in fourth-quarter interceptions, was 17 of 33 for 233 yards. After throwing a first-quarter interception Sunday, which was returned for a 79 yard touchdown, it appeared that Smith was up for another tough game against the Patriots.

Smith rebounded and put the Jets up 24-21 in the third quarter on an 8-yard run that left the crowd chanting “GEE-NO! GEE-NO!”

Smith and the Jets ultimately went on to win the game when Nick Folk booted a 42-yard field goal with 5:07 left in overtime.

“I’m never going to crumble,” Smith said. “No matter what happens. You know, that’s just not in me.”
