Comedian and rapper Donald Glover, also known as Childish Gambino, gave his fans a scare when he posted a series of haunting messages on Instagram. The messages told the tale of a young man who’s struggling with the strife of life, causing some to believe Glover was suicidal.
“I’m afraid of the future,” “I’m scared I’ll never reach my potential,” and “I feel like I’m letting everyone down,” read some of the messages.
On Thursday, Glover spoke with People magazine to explain his messages.
“That night, we had a show, and then afterwards, I had this moment of feeling like, ‘What’s the point? Why am I even here?’ … I just wanted to write down my feelings,” he said. “I definitely was just expressing myself.”
“If I’m depressed, everybody’s depressed,” the “Community” actor added. “I don’t think those feelings are that different from what everybody’s feeling. Most people just don’t tell everybody.”
Glover told People he’s happy he vented and “got it off my chest.”
