A new clip from “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom” has made it’s way online. The Justin Chadwick-directed film stars Idris Elba as Nelson Mandela, Naomie Harris as Winnie Mandela, and will chronicle the life of the iconic civil rights leader, including his 27 years in prison.
South African stars Tony Kgoroge, Riaad Moosa, Zolani Mkiva, Jamie Bartlett, Lindiwe Matshikiza, Deon Lotz and Terry Pheto, round out the cast.
The critics’ reviews were generally positive after its TIFF premiere last month, and the film is expected to be an Oscar contender come awards season.
In the newly released clip, Elba portrays Mandela during his early days as an attorney in the 1950s. Mandela and Oliver Tambo (fellow anti-apartheid activist and African National Congress central figure) opened a law firm in downtown Johannesburg. Take a look at the clip below.
“Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom” is scheduled to open in U.S. theaters on Nov. 29.
