Geno Smith looks as though he’s getting accustomed to being at the helm of the New York Jets football team.
On Monday night, the rookie quarterback led the Jets to a 30-28 victory over the Atlanta Falcons. He threw three touchdown passes and marched New York down the field on a clutch drive that allowed Nick Folk to kick a winning field goal on the final play of the game.
With less than two minutes left to play, the Falcons were ahead 28-27. Smith responded by showing poise, completing four straight passes and an 8-yard run that set up Folk’s 43-yard field goal as the game ended.
This is a great performance from Smith. He completed 16 of 20 passes for 199 yards and no interceptions.
“I’ve been in this situation time and time again,” Smith said. “My confidence is always sky high. Nothing can bring me down. I’m just going to continue to work. And we’re putting this one behind us. We’re getting on that bus, we’ll enjoy it for a little bit, then get back to work.”
