Fox Renews ‘Sleepy Hollow’ for Season 2 After Only 3 Episodes

Sleepy Hollow

Sleppy Hollow” is just three episodes in, and Fox has deemed it worthwhile to risk  a renewal of the series for a second season.

According to Shadow & Act, Fox has announced a 13-episode second season renewal for its new hit series, which stars Nicole Beharie and Orlando Jones.

Variety says:

“’Sleepy Hollow’ ranks as Fox’s most successful fall drama premiere in over a decade. The program opened to 10 million viewers during its premiere, a number that blossomed to 13.6 million after three days of time-shifted viewing were accounted for. “Sleepy Hollow” has also retained a impressive number of its viewers since the show’s launch, even when faced with stiff broadcast competition that includes NBC’s ‘The Voice.’”

“The show has proven to be a risk well worth taking—it’s a conceptual blast unlike anything else on television and it all holds together with inventive writing and a fantastic cast,” Kevin Reilly, Chairman of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company, said in a statement. “I can’t wait for fans to experience what else is in store for this fall and even more of this wild ride into season two.”

Sleepy Hollow’s premiere episode drew an astounding 10.1 million viewers, and a 3.5 rating, making it the No. 1 primetime drama that night in the adults 18-49 demographic, as well as Fox’s highest-rated fall drama premiere in six years, and on any broadcast network in one year, knocking off NBC’s “Revolution” from that slot.

It seems Hollywood is getting some good results in taking chances on shows where black actors are well represented. Beharie and Jones may be somewhere doing some kind of a happy dance, suggested S&A.

Aside from Beharie and Jones, “Sleepy Hollow” stars Tom Mison and airs Monday nights at 9 p.m. on Fox.
