“The Simpsons“ are now in their 25th season, and to show that the series is as relevant as “Game of Thrones,” producers are planning on a shake up that includes killing off a major character.
According to Canada’s The Sun News executive producer Al Jean dropped the bad news to reporters in a recent conference call saying:
“We’re actually working on a script where a character will pass away,” he says without revealing a name. However, Jean does shed a little light on the mystery, adding, “I’ll give a clue that the actor playing the character won an Emmy for playing that character, but I won’t say who it is.”
Well, that doesn’t help because several of the main characters would make that list, according to Zap2it.com:
“Everyone in the main cast has won an Emmy for their performances on the show at some point. The specific characters that have won the honor are Bart, Lisa, Homer, Marge, Edna Krabappel and Apu Nahasapeemapetilon. Additionally, Hank Azaria has won three Emmy awards for “various characters” on the show, leaving many options. If you add in the guest stars who have won the award, there’s also Kelsey Grammer (Sideshow Bob), Anne Hathaway (Princess Penelope) and Jackie Mason (Rabbi Hyman Krustofski).”
When the doomed Simpsons character is given the axe this season, it wouldn’t be the first time the animated show has taken such a dark turn. Ned Flanders was left a widowed dad of two, after his wife Maude was killed off in 2000. There was also the death of Lisa’s favorite musician, Bleeding Gums Murphy, which she’s still struggling to get over.
Which character do you think will be killed off and how do you feel about this fatal move on the Simpsons?
