Samsung is, no doubt, Apple’s biggest competitor, and not only in the smartphone market. It is the only company other than Google, that offers users a full ecosystem with cellphones, laptops, TV’s and tablets to compete with Apple. Although Samsung has successfully competed with Apple in the smartphone arena, the iPad is still the leader in the tablet market. However, Samsung is hoping to change that with its new Galaxy 10.1 tablet. According to theverge.com:

“Samsung has finally gotten over its addiction to slimy plastic bodies, instead giving the new Note 10.1 a faux-leather design that also graces the new Note 3. The textured backing is a big improvement for the Note 3 and works even better on the larger 10.1. At 1.19 pounds, the 10.1 is lighter than both the Nexus 10 and the iPad while still maintaining the nice solid heft of a premium device.”

Samsung also updated the screen on the Galaxy 10.1, bumping up to a beautiful 2560 x 1600 LCD panel, which puts it on par with the iPad and Google’s Nexus 10. However, while it has made many improvements, most analysts believe there’s much left to be desired from the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, especially since it costs more than competitors’ devices in the same class. As also reported by theverge.com:

“For right now, the $549.99 Note 10.1 feels old and clunky; it’s certainly not worth the price when the iPad costs $499 and the Nexus 10 $399.”

But if you truly need to use two apps at once on a tablet, or need to use a stylus pen, the Galaxy 10.1 is worth considering.
