New York Yankees Alfonso Soriano has been very willing to hit home runs–smashing 15 of them since his return in July–yet he’s not so eager when it comes to letting his opponents hit them on his watch.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, Baltimore Orioles’ third baseman Manny Machado smacked a fly ball deep into left field. As Soriano sprinted to where the ball was making its way down, he leaped above the wall to make the catch, sending Machado back to the dugout shaking his head. Yankees pitcher David Robertson’s reaction was priceless when he realized Soriano made the play.

“That’s the first homer that I stole from somebody,” Soriano said after New York’s 6-5 win, via Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. “I’m very excited because it was a close game and a very important catch, and very important for me.”
