Alfonso Soriano Hits 2 Home Runs Against Toronto, Reaches 400 HR Milestone

Alfonso Soriano smacked two home runs on Tuesday night against the Toronto Blue Jays to reach his 400 career HR mark.

The accomplishment makes the all-star the 51st player in MLB history to reach the milestone.

Earlier in the year, the New York Yankees traded for Soriano, hoping to add more offense to their lineup, and their strategy seems to be working well.

His first homer of the night came in the top of the first inning. With two men on and no one out, Soriano swung and clubbed his 10th homer since joining the Yankees. He later hit his second HR that brought him to his 400th home-run milestone.

“His numbers have been pretty good,” Yankees manager Joe Girardi said before Tuesday’s game. “What he’s done here in the month of August, I’m sure people are talking about it. There’s baseball left in this guy, and he can have a really good year.”

The New York Yankees beat the Toronto Blue Jays 7-1.
