The Golden State Warriors are the first Las Vegas Summer League champions this year, defeating the Phoenix Suns 91-77 at the Thomas & Mack Center on Monday night, completing a 7-0 run over the past 11 days.
Both teams played this game hard at first, but the Golden State Warriors played the Suns harder than any opponent to date, stealing the Suns’ off confidence.
Warriors guard Ian Clark, who went undrafted out of Belmont, led all scorers with 33 points, taking home championship game MVP honors. Kent Bazemore also scored big time for the Warriors with an array of scoring drives and dipsy-do moves to get open jumpers. He added 18 points, four rebounds and four assists.
In the end, the Suns gave up too many offensive rebounds, while the Warriors easily secured a 14-point lead by the end of regulation.
