The United States soccer team overcame a turtle-like start to beat Cuba 4-1 Saturday and advance to the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) Gold Cup quarterfinals.
USA player, Chris Wondolowski led the squad, scoring two goals to increase his total to 5-2 games. He also became the first American with five goals in one Gold Cup tournament.
“I’m very confident in my play,” Wondolowski said. “Just even getting the goals is so huge. I’m feeling more confident in my passing and in my touch and things like that where it’s helping me raise my level.”
The USA team won seven straight games, which ties team record set in June 2007.
