Lance Reddick Cast in Lead Role in New Comedy Film

In what will be his very first feature comedy, “The Wire” and “Fringe” star Lance Reddick has been cast as one of the leads in Universal and Gold Circle’s “Search Party,” The Wrap has learned.

Scot Armstrong is making his directorial debut with the film, which Gold Circle is producing and co-financing with distributor Universal.

TJ Miller, Adam Pally and Thomas Middleditch star alongside Shannon Woodward and Alison Brie.

Story follows two roommates who go to dangerous lengths to save their friend who is stranded in Mexico without clothes.

Reddick will play one of the three friends’ bosses whose patience wears thin over the course of their adventure.

Paul Brooks is producing for Gold Circle, whose Scott Niemeyer is executive producing. Neal Moritz is also producing under his Original Film banner alongside Armstrong and Ravi Nandan of American Work. Scott Bernstein and Jay Polidoro are overseeing the project for Universal. Production is currently under way in Louisiana.

Reddick, who has recently been exploring his comedy chops with upcoming roles on Adult Swim, Comedy Central and FX’s “Wilfred,” has amassed a strong international fan base due to his dramatic turns in HBO’s “The Wire,” Fox’s “Fringe” and ABC’s “Lost.” He’ll soon be seen in Roland Emmerich’s action extravaganza “White House Down” and Spike Lee’s highly-anticipated remake of “Oldboy.” On the producing side, Reddick is developing sci-fi/action movie “In War They Come” under his Christai Films banner.

Reddick is repped by Paradigm and Steven Adams Entertainment.
