Hugh Jackman as Wolverine Returns in ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’

As irksome as it is to some of the more hardcore fans, at this stage in the game it just doesn’t seem like an X-Men movie without Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.

Whether he’s directly in the spotlight or simply showing up for a scene to tell Professor Xavier and Magneto to go to hell, the character has been a part of every film in the franchise thus far, and that won’t change with X-Men: Days of Future Past.

It was back in December that director Bryan Singer revealed that the Aussie actor would be playing the character for the seventh time in his new movie, and today, courtesy of the filmmaker’s Twitter feed, we have our first look at him on set.

You don’t see his face in the picture, but Singer sent it out with the message: “Fitting @RealHughJackman.”

Still, at this point could you really confuse that hair and jacket for anyone else? He wasn’t wearing the same wool-lined coat jacket seen in the comics, but perhaps he’ll throw that on at another point in the movie.

Jackman isn’t the only original trilogy actor set to return for X-Men: Days of Future Past, with Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Anna Paquin, Shawn Ashmore, Ellen Page, and Daniel Cudmore all set to come back. Most of the film, however, will be focused on the stars of X-Men: First Class, including James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult. as well as newcomers Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Booboo Stewart and Fan Bing Bing.
